Over the past few years many participants have suggested that we add a new category for judging and awarding trophies in our judged Corvette classes. Many show participants that drive their prized vehicles throughout the year as well as attending shows, desired a new classification and a different judging strategy. They wanted a different level for Corvette lovers that really like to drive their machines and not just leave them covered up when not at a show. They felt that more owners would show their vehicles if they were competing with others in the same situation. Instead of nice looking Corvettes parked in the lot outside the NCH, these Corvettes could be on display in the shows and be part of the celebration. We tossed the idea around among the NCH team members and we think we found a solution.

For 2008, we will have two levels in each class:

Show & Shine - This level is for participants who show their vehicle as their main emphasis. They may use a trailer to transport their baby from show to show. They tend to drive their Corvette on a very limited basis. They have put their time, effort and pocketbook into their presentation. The judging will go over all aspects of the vehicle. Mirrors will be used for close inspection of the under carriage. The awards will be enhanced in recognition of the high level of achievement in our Corvette classes. Entry fee is $60.

Drive & Shine - This new level is for participants that drive their Corvette frequently. They maintain their vehicle appearance regularly and stay on top of all mechanical repairs as needed. The judging will go over most all aspects of the vehicle, under hood, interior, exterior and trunk with the exception of the under carriage. The only inspection here will verify that the vehicle is on the road frequently. This will insure that driven vehicles will compete against other driven vehicles and not those that are in the Show & Shine level above. Awards will be of standard size and stature. Entry fee is $45.

We thank all those participants that made their suggestions known to us. NCH strives to improve the show each year and listen to our many attendees along the way. It is only because of our growing participation that the NCH can maintain our status in the Corvette show circuit as THE national gathering of Corvettes of all years, in the city where these great American sports cars are built.
